Above my eyes, I have wooly caterpillars. They can sometimes be tamed with a tweezers or even at the salon with a swipe of wax. Most of the times they run free and wild. Yes, I’m talking about my eyebrows.
Eyebrows seem to have a personality all of their own. They can be sleek and polished, trimmed and full, or wild and crazy. We all have that one aunt in our family who pencils hers into the perfect arch giving her that constant surprised expression. We seem to have a love hate relationship with them. We hate them when they are messy or not perfect, but then love them when they do actually cooperate and you can style them properly.
You can groom your caterpillars which ever way works for you, I’m not here to judge, I just want to share with you a few products that may help you or give you an idea on something new to try.
Being cursed/blessed with dark brows that are as full as Brooke Shields’, I do not have to darken mine. But that’s not to say I haven’t over tweezed them a time or two and have had to fill in the thinner areas. When that happens, I usually reach for:
- The Brow Contour Pro from Benefit Cosmetics. It has four different options in each “pen”. For me with the darkest brow God ever created, I use the dark brown options to fill in the sparse areas only when needed. The other three shades are designed to highlight and help create a natural looking brow, especially if you are doing more than a little filling in.
When I am doing something that requires me to look put together and not have to reapply or touch up my makeup as time is limited and I need something that will stay all day. For these instances I will reach for:
- 24 Hour Brow Setter Clear Eyebrow Gel from Benefit Cosmetics. This product comes in a silver vessel that is reminiscent of old school perfume bottles. You simply undo the top and pull out the wand, simply a shorter mascara wand. You swipe this through your brows, you may need to swipe it several times, depending on how thick your brows are or what your plans are. This product is like Aqua Net; your brow hairs will not be moving. Only down side is if you do touch your brows, they feel super stiff and it can be a little crusty.
Now I’m not anti eyebrow pencils, they are perfect for what they do, I simply have tried other options and prefer these over others. But that’s not to say I wouldn’t use other products if they came about. There are other products out there intended to help you grow your eyebrows, since I have the opposite need, I can’t give you much insight on those, but if you have some other eye brow products, please share them with me!
Overall, it doesn’t matter if you have wooly caterpillars, or spaghetti thin brows you pencil in, as long as you love them, then they are perfect. You were all made beautiful and do not need to change anything about yourselves, but if you want to do it; do it for you only.
Be strong, be beautiful, be you
