Dr. Suess created many memorable books, and several of them were turned in the movies. His Christmas offering was How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and it’s been a favorite each year. I dislike the version with Jim Carrey, but thoroughly enjoy this animated version released in 1966.
The story revolves around the Grinch, who lives high in the mountains above Whoville, and simply doesn’t want Christmas to come. The Who’s who lived in Whoville, loved Christmas and the noise of their celebrations causes the Grinch to be miserable. He then had a wickedly evil idea to steal Christmas and stop the Who’s.
Having his loyal dog, Max, assist him in his plans, the Grinch dresses up as a familiar character in a jolly red suit, and enters the houses of the who’s. He stole everything from the trees to the food, and everything in between. But on Christmas morning, the one disappointed may not be who you expect.
How the Grinch Stole Christmas has the voice talents of:
- Boris Karloff – Narrator and The Grinch
- Thurl Ravenscroft – Singer of song, “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch”
- June Foray – Cindy Lou Who
- Dal McKennon – Max
Have a family movie night and watch this holiday classic!
