When I was young, we only had the stop action Christmas shows that are classics today but were all we had. Until the 1990’s and we got all kinds of Christmas movies including The Santa Clause.
The Santa Clause starts with a divorced toy developer, Scott Calvin, who has his son, Charlie for Christmas Eve. That night after putting Charlie to bed and reading him, Twas the Night Before Christmas, something amazing happens. They kill Santa, by startling him and he falls off the roof.
Scott thinking it was a store Santa says that he’s looking for his wallet, but then he disappears leaving his suit behind. The card found on Santa says to put on the coat and the reindeer will know what to do. Sure enough, on the roof there is a sleigh and eight reindeer.
After a very long night Scott and Charlie end up at the North Pole and at Santa’s workshop. For the next year, Scott is denying he’s Santa while Charlie and all the children who meet him, believe he is.
Will Scott realize that he is Santa? Will he be on better terms with his ex-wife, and her new husband? Will he be the best father to Charlie? Time to turn on The Santa Clause and find out.
