Movie – Sleepy Hollow

Today’s movie selection starts with Sleepy Hollow. This is a story that has become legend. The headless horsemen and Ichabod Crane. The movie is one that is not suitable for younger kids, it is rated R.

But most of us know the legend behind the tale of Sleepy Hollow, if not here is a brief synopsis:

Sleepy Hollow residents are subjected to various supernatural and mysterious occurrences, such as trances, visions, sights, voices, music. The most infamous of the supernatural is The Headless Horseman. The Horsemen is supposedly the ghost of a soldier who lost his head in battle and rides each night to find his missing head.

Ichabod Crane is an extremely superstitious man. He stays in Sleepy Hollow and is useful and agreeable with the families he rooms with. As a firm believer in witchcraft, Ichabod goes to Sleepy Hollow to hear the marvelous tales of ghosts and goblins.

Looking to marry a young woman from a wealthy family, Katrina Van Tassel, Ichabod plans to propose after a party, but he fails in his quest and that night rides through the woods from the party to where he is staying. His imagination gets the better of him, and he meets the Headless Horseman at the intersection.

Ichabod sets out racing to the bridge adjacent to the Old Dutch Burying Ground where it is said that the Horseman will “vanish, according to rule, in a flash of fire and brimstone” before crossing it. As they cross the bridge, the Horseman vanishing but not before hurling his head at Ichabod.

The next day Ichabod Crane has disappeared. The only items remaining are his had, saddle and a shattered pumpkin.

You will also see more big names throughout this movie. As this is a Tim Burton movie, expect great things.
